The Houston Rockets said Thursday that guard James Harden has been suffering from strep throat, but he should be able to play in Friday's Game 6 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Harden entered Game 5 on Wednesday with an unknown sickness but played 42 minutes in a 107-100 Houston win.
James Harden diagnosed with strep throat, should be OK for Friday
The Houston Rockets said James Harden is suffering from strep throat but should have their All-Star available Friday for Game 6.
After the diagnosis, the team treated him on Thursday.

It’s not as if the strep throat had affected Harden all that much. Coach Kevin McHale had said before Game 5 that he only worried about Harden having enough energy to play effective minutes, according to the Houston Chronicle, and Harden answered the bell by scoring 31 points and grabbing eight rebounds. It was also his best shooting performance, as he went 10-for-16 from the floor and drilled 7-of-9 three-pointers.
Houston has now won two games in a row to bring a series that was once a near-sweep by the Thunder to 3-2.
In other injury news, the team ran point guard Jeremy Lin through a workout on Thursday and believes the point guard is recovering and responding well to treatment to his chest contusion. Swingman Carlos Delfino's status is also up in the air as he deals with bone spurs in his foot.
