Count LeBron James as one person who doesn't see what all the fuss is about when it comes to exaggerating contact to get calls from the referees.
LeBron James: ‘Flopping isn’t a bad thing’
The Heat star shrugged off concerns about the growing number of flops in the Conference Finals.
When asked for his thoughts on the flopping, LeBron essentially shrugged, per Ken Berger of CBS Sports:
“It hasn’t been a problem for many guys at all,” James said. “I don’t really pay too much attention to it. I think it’s been good, I guess.”
“It’s year one, so you’re not just going to go cold turkey,” James said. “Guys have been accustomed to doing it for years, and it’s not even a bad thing. You’re just trying to get the advantage. Any way you can get the advantage over an opponent to help your team win, then so be it.”
And while none of the Heat players has been fined for flopping in the postseason, from LeBron to Dwyane Wade and Shane Battier, they clearly aren't above doing it.
With so much on the line, the temptation to bend the rules to your advantage might just be too hard to resist. The question is how far the NBA is willing to go to actually change player behavior.
