DeMarcus Cousins could draw trade interest from Cavaliers, Mavericks, Bobcats, according to report

Troubled Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins could be traded on the day of the NBA Draft.

DeMarcus Cousins' continued rifts with trouble in Sacramento could lead to the Kings seeking out trade options involving their big man, and Chad Ford of ESPN reports (Insider required) that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats would be willing to jump on the phone to work out a deal.

The Kings’ front office hasn’t been filled out yet by the team’s new ownership group, but it’s possible that a new general manager could seek out trade options for Cousins. With off-the-court issues in tow, Sacramento’s best bet at getting something in return for the talented center could be picking up a lottery selection in the 2013 draft.

Cousins averaged 17.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game but was suspended multiple times by coach Keith Smart last season. His troubles included a postgame confrontation with Spurs television announcer Sean Elliott, and a below-the-belt punch and ensuing media spat with Dallas Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo.

Cleveland is believed to be searching for ways to make a leap as a playoff contendor next season, and putting Cousins alongside big men Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson would give newly-appointed coach Mike Brown a solid frontcourt.

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks have the hopes of returning to the playoffs sooner rather than later as well. Cousins' style would seemingly fit well with Nowitzki, but a lot of this depends on whether Dallas can make enough moves to sign center Dwight Howard as a free agent. Bringing on Cousins could be the backup option.

Charlotte also would be a fit as a team looking simply to improve its talent base.
