The Houston Rockets are shopping young forward Thomas Robinson and his $3.52 million contract to open up enough cap room to sign free agent center Dwight Howard, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Houston has let other front offices know that they will get the best offer for the soon-to-be, second-year big man out of Kansas.

The Houston Rockets are attempting to move young big man Thomas Robinson to free up cap space that would help them land Dwight Howard.

Robinson was traded to the Rockets in his 2012-13 rookie season by the Sacramento Kings after they selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft.
Trading him would allow Houston to sign Howard to a max deal worth at least $20.5 million next season.
Howard, likewise, has interest in joining the Rockets, according to Wojnarowski, but he could also look into staying in Los Angeles or joining Houston's neighbor, the Dallas Mavericks.

The news means the Rockets appear more than willing to make a strong push to sign Howard and place him alongside All-Star James Harden and rising talent Chandler Parsons. While Rockets general manager Daryl Morey still could do some major work to clear up more cap space as to avoid luxury tax hits, he's in sound position to make a move for the Lakers big man.
Parsons, along with role players like Patrick Beverley and Greg Smith, do not have guaranteed contracts for the 2013-14 season.
As ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon suggested last week that the Rockets also have the option of moving either point guard Jeremy Lin or center Omer Asik to free up $8 million in cap space.
