NBA Draft rumors roundup: Raptors look to get in draft

Toronto doesn’t have a pick yet but is interested in acquiring one.

USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors don't have a pick in the 2013 draft, but ESPN's Marc Stein reports that they'll look at acquire one or more. Stein believes the Raptors will be able to swing a deal for a second-round pick, at worst. Ideally, they could nab two selections.

New general manager Masai Ujiri has been open about his wish to land a pick, according to the Toronto Sun's Ryan Wolstat. A point guard could be targeted by the team, as the Raptors don't have depth behind starter Kyle Lowry. Canadian Myck Kabongo is a potential choice to go early in the second round. Dennis Schroeder, Nate Wolters, Phil Pressey, Peyton Siva and Isaiah Canaan are also options from the middle of the first round to the end of the second round.

Speaking of Canaan, the Murray State guard will attend his second workout with the Indiana Pacers, according to Indy Cornrows.

Back to Toronto. Another loftier selection for the Raptors should they get a solid first-round pick is another Canadian, Gonzaga forward Kelly Olynyk. The big man from South Kamloop, British Columbia, grew up watching the Raptors but said he'd ideally like to be selected by the Dallas Mavericks. There Olynyk (scouting report) would learn under the similarly-styled Dirk Nowitzki.

The Mavs, however, have reportedly wanted to trade their pick. If they don’t, Schroeder (scouting report) could be an option, the Dallas Morning News surmises.
