As the Boston Celtics enter a new phase in their franchise's evolution, the Brooklyn Nets are among the teams potentially looking to make a move for veteran forward Kevin Garnett.

According to the New York Daily News, Nets general manager Billy King contacted Boston about Garnett's desire to play in New York alongside point guard Deron Williams. The report goes on to say that the Celtics did not respond while they remain uncertain of their next move.
Garnett has a rare no-trade clause in his contract and has said in the past that he wouldn't waive it. Since then, the C's have made a number of moves indicating that they are entering a rebuilding mode, including sending NBA champion head coach Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a first-round draft pick. Similarly to Garnett, Paul Pierce remains in constant trade discussions as well.
Like many teams on the cusp of success in the postseason, the Nets are looking for more depth and a vocal leader. Garnett is a 15-time All-Star who can deliver in both of those key areas for a team with a new name, facility, leadership and all of the expectations that go along with those things.
With the draft set to take place on Thursday, teams are beginning to make their short-term plans and shop their assets. Garnett is clearly on the block, and teams have noticed.
