NBA Draft rumors roundup: Cavaliers still not set on No. 1 pick

The Cavaliers are still unsure of who to take No. 1 overall in Thursday’s NBA Draft, and with no clear-cut option, they have been aggressively shopping the pick.

The 2013 NBA Draft is now just a day away, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are still unsure of who they will take with the No. 1 pick, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.

If the pick isn’t traded, ESPN’s Chad Ford told Lloyd that he believes the choice will come down to Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel (scouting report), Maryland’s Alex Len (scouting report) and UNLV’s Anthony Bennett (scouting report). Noel had been at the top of most draft boards for much of the process, but the Cavs have cooled on him a bit and Len has seen his stock rise. Bob Finnan of The News-Herald believes the Cavs are down to Noel and Len, with Kansas’ Ben McLemore (scouting report) also in play.

With no clear-cut choice, the Cavs have been aggressively shopping the pick in search of another star to pair with Kyrie Irving. Cleveland reportedly offered the Portland Trail Blazers the No. 1 pick and No. 19 pick for LaMarcus Aldridge, but the Blazers quickly declined. The Cavs also reportedly asked the Minnesota Timberwolves about Kevin Love, offering up the No. 1 pick, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters. Again, no deal.

-- SheridanHoops' Joe Kotoch reports that the Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist because they're confident that they can draft Otto Porter (scouting report) with the No. 4 pick. The report states that the Washington Wizards are set to take Bennett at No. 3. The Bobcats are supposedly interested in trading for Harrison Barnes, although trading a small forward drafted just one year ago at No. 2 for another young small forward and then drafting a small forward seems a bit odd. The Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell refutes the story, saying Charlotte has no intention of moving Kidd-Gilchrist and that there's little chance Porter slides to No. 4.

-- The Boston Celtics have scheduled some last-minute workouts with likely second-round players, and Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD surmises that perhaps the Celtics plan on moving Paul Pierce for picks. Boston has to decide by June 30 whether to pick up Pierce's $15.3 million contract or buy him out for $5 million, and they have been working the trade market for a deal. The Celtics would like a first-round pick according to ESPN's Marc Stein, but that may not be in the cards.

-- The Brooklyn Nets are holding their final draft workout on Wednesday, with Louisville's Gorgui Dieng (scouting report) being the headliner, according to the New York Post's Tim Bontemps. The Nets hold the No. 22 pick in the draft, and with Dieng's stock slipping due to some injury concerns, he may be available. If Dieng stays healthy, he would be a solid backup for Brook Lopez.

-- NBADraft.net reports that the San Antonio Spurs may have a promise with Virginia Tech's Erick Green (scouting report) at No. 28. Green was a scoring machine at Virginia Tech who can play both guard positions, and he could provide some nice offensive punch off the bench behind Tony Parker.
