Celtics-Nets trade: Boston gets Gerald Wallace, picks and contracts for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, according to report

The trade between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets that will send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn was finalized on Thursday night when Kevin Garnett agreed to waive his no-trade clause.

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets have agreed to the parameters of the rumored deal that will send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal was contingent on Garnett agreeing to waive his no-trade clause, which he did late Thursday evening.

The current version of the deal will send Celtics veterans Pierce, Garnett and Jason Terry to Brooklyn in exchange for three future first round picks, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries' expiring contract, Reggie Evans, Kris Joseph and do a sign-and-trade with Keith Bogan to complete the financials of the package. The two teams will also have the option to swap picks in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Second-year NBAer Tornike Shengelia was reported to be in the original deal, though CBS Sports’ Ken Berger reports that Evans apparently replaced him in the deal.

The deal will not be able to be officially finalized until July 10 due to a moratorium, according to multiple reports.

It's a very big move for the Celtics as they move on from last year's nucleus that also included head coach Doc Rivers, who was obviously traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 first round pick. With that pick, the Celtics will now be able to build around Rajon Rondo and first round picks in the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 -- not a bad start to the Celtics' rebuilding efforts.

With Pierce and Garnett in tow, the Nets can now trot out a team that also features Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez in the starting lineup.
