Point guard Nate Robinson is looking for more money and/or more minutes on the free agent market than the Chicago Bulls can offer, so the two sides expect to part ways, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Chicago’s pesky point guard hopes to cash in on the free agent market after a solid season with the Bulls.

Robinson filled in admirably for the Bulls last season with Derrick Rose on the shelf rehabbing his knee all year and Kirk Hinrich in and out of the lineup with injuries. Robinson averaged 13 points and 4.4 assists per game, starting 23 regular season games for the Bulls and playing over 25 minutes per game. In the playoffs, Robinson raised his game, playing 33 minutes per game and averaging over 16 points and 4.4 assists.
With Rose and Hinrich expected back, along with second-year guard Marquis Teague developing in a backup role, Robinson would be back to an emergency backup with the Bulls. Robinson is now looking for a bigger role and more money after playing in Chicago for the league minimum last year.
Robinson never shies away from a big moment, sometimes to his detriment, but it makes sense that he would try to land a multi-year contract after displaying his value as a change-of-pace backup last year. If not, a more lucrative one-year deal with a defined role should be available on the open market.
