Having received the Memphis Grizzlies’ permission to speak with other teams, Lionel Hollins reached out to the Los Angeles Clippers through his representatives to gauge interest in filling the team’s head coaching vacancy, according to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
Lionel Hollins interested in Clippers head coach opening, according to report
Lionel Hollins may be angling to become the Clippers’ next coach upon leaving Memphis.
With the relationship between Memphis and Hollins seemingly deteriorating each day as new ownership seeks to impart its influence, it appears possible -- if not likely -- he finds a job elsewhere. It’s already been reported that the Brooklyn Nets want to speak with Hollins, and now he’s being connected to another quality gig the same day.
Hollins’ agent, Warren LeGarie, said he wanted L.A. to know his client is interested in the opening. It’s unclear whether that interest is being reciprocated by the Clippers as they look to replace Vinny Del Negro, and placate star player Chris Paul in the process, but Hollins’ recent track record is stronger than most candidates.
