The NBA unveiled a new award that celebrates the league’s best teammates and a winner from a group of finalists will be announced Sunday.

A list of finalists for the new honor was released and includes Jerry Stackhouse (Brooklyn Nets), Luke Walton (Cleveland Cavaliers), Andre Iguodala (Denver Nuggets), Jarrett Jack (Golden State Warriors), Roy Hibbert (Indiana Pacers), Chauncey Billups (Los Angeles Clippers), Shane Battier (Miami Heat), Roger Mason, Jr. (New Orleans Hornets), Jason Kidd (New York Knicks), Serge Ibaka (Oklahoma City Thunder), Manu Ginobili (San Antonio Spurs), and Emeka Okafor (Washington Wizards).
That group of 12 represents six players from each conference and was chosen by a select group of former NBA players. The winner was voted upon by current players.
The award is named after Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes. The two Pittsburgh products became friends and eventually rookies with one another on the 1955-56 Cincinnati Royals before Stokes suffered a career-ending head injury that paralyzed him. Twyman became his legal guardian and raised the funding for Stokes’ medical needs.
