The six-year NBA veteran played with the Philadelphia 76ers last season and averaged 10.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 2012-13. Well-known for his questionable shot selection, Young is a 42.7 percent shooter who has hit 37.4 percent from three-point range in his career.

The fit makes sense for the Lakers, who need more players to stretch the floor. And if Kobe Bryant is hampered well into the season because of his Achilles tear, they'll need someone to take a scoring load off the shoulders of aging point guard Steve Nash and forward Pau Gasol.
Two weeks ago, Young posted an Instagram shot of himself wearing a Magic Johnson Lakers jersey.
Young, who played at USC and went to Cleveland High School in the Reseda community of Los Angeles, told his agent that he'd dreamed of playing for the Lakers. He played for the Los Angeles Clippers for a brief stint during the 2011-12 season.
