Metta World Peace can freely choose his next move as an unrestricted free agent after clearing waivers Sunday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. It's an unsurprising development after a series of comments from World Peace recently stating his disinterest in playing for the vast majority of NBA teams.

The Los Angeles Lakers released World Peace on amnesty last week, saving about $15-20 million through luxury tax savings. He will still make the $7.7 million owed to him, but otherwise his days with the Lakers are over. The 33-year-old spent the past four seasons with the Lakers, averaging 12.4 points and five rebounds per game in 2012-13.
The New York Knicks are the popular front-runner for World Peace's services, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers. A native of New York City who spent the past few years in L.A., it appears he's only interested in playing in those two cities. Then again, there's also the distant possibility he spurs the NBA entirely to play in China next season.

Although World Peace's best days are behind him, he can still be useful as a perimeter defender and three-point shooter. Joining the Knicks would allow Carmelo Anthony to spend additional time at power forward, where he excelled in extended duty last season.
