Marcus Camby likely to be bought out by Raptors, per report

If the report holds true, there are several teams interested in acquiring the big man once he’s free of his current contract.

USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors are expected to buy out Marcus Camby from the final two years on his current contract, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

The Raptors acquired Camby, Steve Novak, Quentin Richardson and three draft picks from the New York Knicks in exchange for Andrea Bargnani. If the buyout goes through, the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls have all expressed interest in adding him.

Camby, who was the 2006-07 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, can potentially anchor the defensive end of the floor at age 39 in a reserve role. He played in 24 games in 2012-13, starting four of them while averaging 1.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and a career-low 0.6 blocks in 10.4 minutes per game.

The Knicks signed Camby to a three-year, $13 million contract in July 2012.
