Baron Davis plans NBA return for 2013-14 season

Davis still thinks he has game left in him at the age of 34.

Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE

Baron Davis continues to rehabilitate his knee after injuring it during the 2012 playoffs, and his plan is to be healthy by this fall to try out for teams and hopefully play in the upcoming NBA season, Alan Hahn of the MSG Network reported Thursday.

Davis, who was interviewed while in Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League, has not played since suffering a complete tear of the ACL and MCL, and a partial tear of the patella tendon in his right knee on May 6 of last year. The 34-year-old point guard also suffered back problems stemming from a herniated disc during the season with the Knicks leading up to the devastating knee injury.

He told Hahn his primary goal is to build up his conditioning so that he's in proper shape before any potential tryouts. He played in 29 games in 2011-12, starting 14 (mostly once Jeremy Lin was injured). He averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 assists in his one season in New York.
