The Dallas Mavericks have added former Houston Rockets executive Gersson Rosas as general manger to help with scouting, analytics and player personnel decisions, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The 35-year-old leaves Houston as general manager Daryl Morey's executive vice president of basketball operations.

The Dallas Mavericks hired the 35-year-old to strengthen the basketball operations department.

Wojnarowski reports that Dallas owner Mark Cuban and president Donnie Nelson will give Rosas “significant latitude” in reshaping the front office’s operations in terms of scouting and player development. Nelson has been in charge of many of the basketball operations, but the addition of Rosas diversifies the Mavs’ expertise and presumably gives Nelson the ability to do more managerial work.

Rosas spent nine years with the Rockets and worked his way from video coordinator and scout to his most recent position. A big contributor to Houston's revamped roster, Rosas is the second high-ranking front office member to leave the analytics-crazed Rockets this offseason. The Philadelphia 76ers hired Sam Hinkie as their general manager this offseason.
Rosas was also general manager of the Rockets’ D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He led the team to two D-League titles and another finals appearance.
