Mike Miller is drawing interest from a number of playoff contenders, but the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies appear ahead in the chase to sign the free agent long-range shooter, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. The Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets are also in the mix, but Stein reports the former Miami Heat swingman has already planned second meetings with the leaders.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies look tough to unseat in the fight to sign the former Miami Heat swingman, but there are other teams in the mix.

Miami amnestied Miller to give itself a little bit of wiggle room financially and off the bat the Grizzlies were considered a favorite since Miller played in Memphis from 2002-08. With the loss of Kevin Martin in free agency and the Thunder’s chances at winning a title, they are also in the mix as a team able to provide Miller with playing time.

Miller averaged 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game last season, his third with the defending champion Heat. But with the similar skillsets and better production from those like Shane Battier and Ray Allen, Miami had more than enough shooting to warrant giving Miller much playing time. And with a financial burden on their backs, the Heat reluctantly picked Miller to be dropped via the amnesty provision.
When he entered free agency after clearing waivers, the question became whether Miller could be healthy. He has dealt with wrist and back issues in the last few seasons and will turn 34 in February.
