The Los Angeles Lakers are set up to have a lot of cap space next summer, and there are already rumblings that they will make a hard push for LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, both of whom can opt out of their current contracts after this season.
Carmelo Anthony sidesteps Lakers rumors
Knicks star Carmelo Anthony doubts that he will join the Lakers anytime soon, although he didn’t completely rule out the possibility.

It’s only natural for the Lakers to go after the biggest prizes on the market, but the question is if James and Anthony even have interest in going to Los Angeles. Anthony was recently tracked down by TMZ when leaving a restaurant in Hollywood and asked whether he could envision himself joining the Lakers in the near future. His response?
“Ummmmm, I doubt it.”
Not exactly a complete denial, but not promising for Lakers fans, either. Anthony played with the TMZ folk for a bit, revealing that he does have purple and gold shoes. However, he also said he doesn’t really have plans to wear them on the court.
Anthony went on to say there are no secret plans with James to join forces, although he admitted the fact that they do play very well together. Still, it seems like a major long shot for James and Anthony to be on the same team anytime soon.
