Kenyon Martin has agreed upon a contract to return to the New York Knicks after a prolonged period of weighing his options, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Though the interest from New York reaches back a while, Martin could have been hoping for a contract above the league minimum.

But New York had few other options with a tight salary cap and will likely give Martin the veteran's minimum. Young big man Jeremy Tyler played inspired ball for the Knicks' summer league team and was considered a possibility to join the team as a backup to Chandler.
Martin signed two 10-day contracts with New York last season as the team became desperate for bodies in the frontcourt. Rasheed Wallace, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby and starting center Tyson Chandler all fought through injuries or ended the season in street clothes, and Martin quickly became the undersize rim-protecting presence. He averaged 7.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18 regular season games.
The 35-year-old played 12 postseason games and continued to give the Knicks 20 minutes per night.
