Linas Kleiza contract: Ex-Raptors F reportedly signs with Turkish team

Former Toronto Raptors forward Linas Kleiza has reportedly signed a contract with Fenerbahçe Ülker that will make him one of the highest-paid basketball players in Europe.

After being waived by the Toronto Raptors under the amnesty provision and clearing waivers, Linas Kleiza is headed overseas on a two-year contract with Fenerbahçe Ülker of the Turkish League that will make him one of the highest-paid players in Europe, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Kleiza never lived up to the four-year, $18.8 million contract he signed with the Raptors in 2010, and he struggled with injury problems in the NBA. But the 28-year-old forward has always been an effective player in international competition. The 6’8 scorer has been a fixture for the Lithuanian national team in recent years.

Kleiza previous played in the Europe during the 2009-10 season with Olympiakos, where he averaged 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds. For his NBA career, he posted 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game over 20 minutes per contest. The former first-round pick in the 2005 NBA Draft split his seven years in the association between the Denver Nuggets and the Toronto Raptors.
