Derrick Rose says he’s the best player in the NBA

In the interview, CNN’s Pedro Pinto asked Rose a series of rapid-fire questions. In the middle of asking about Rose’s career highlights and lowlights, and what Michael Jordan meant to Rose growing up in Chicago, Pinto throws in, “Best player in the league right now?”

Rose’s response, simply: “Derrick Rose.”

At Hot Hot Hoops, Darryl Lee Sang aptly points out that it seems unlikely any athlete near the top of his or her sport would say another player’s name when asked a similar loaded question.

Pinto also lobbed another softball Rose’s way when he asked what Rose thought was the greatest city in the world. Rose, who grew up in Chicago and currently plays for the professional basketball team in Chicago, said Chicago. “You can just feel the energy, the love that the fans and the people have for each other in the city,” he said.
