Ryan Gomes, Thunder agree to 1-year contract

The forward is returning to the NBA after spending a season in Germany.

Forward Ryan Gomes has agreed to a one-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Gomes last played in the NBA in 2011-12 with the Clippers and will look to resurrect his NBA career as a 31-year-old when next season starts.

In seven NBA seasons, Gomes has averaged 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. The Connecticut native has spent the summer playing in the Greater Hartford Pro Am alongside local college and pro talent. He played for the Artland Dragons in Germany last season.

Gomes can play either the small forward or power forward, and even though the Thunder already have some options at those positions, Gomes can provide some depth. He could potentially compete with Perry Jones and Ronnie Brewer to help back up Kevin Durant.

If Gomes’ attempt at an NBA comeback doesn’t work out, he’s already made it clear that one day he would like to be a coach.
