The Spurs appear to be keeping the band together as Manu Ginobili agrees to a two-year contract.
With an opportunity to significantly shake up the roster this offseason, it appears San Antonio will instead double down on the players who nearly brought a fifth championship to the franchise. Along with Ginobili, big man Tiago Splitter received a sizable four-year contract this week to stick around.
Complete terms of the deal are unavailable at this point, but it’s likely Ginobili takes a decent pay cut from his 2012-13 salary of over $14 million. Though he’s still a dynamic player at times, inconsistency plagues his aging game, something the world saw first-hand during an up-and-down Finals performance.
Playing 60 games last season, Ginobili averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. His 19.0 PER, while above-average, was his lowest figure since 2003-04.
