Because Antawn Jamison saw a title contender in the Los Angeles Lakers last summer, he didn't spend much time looking over other options as a free agent. That's not going to happen this offseason, he told The Sporting News.
Antawn Jamison lists Bulls, Clippers, Grizzlies, Bobcats as suitors
After a trying season with a Lakers team that looked like a contender, Antawn Jamison is entering this offseason with more caution.

The 37-year-old free agent forward believes he has a year or two left and is receiving interest from the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Bobcats.
“Because it looks good on paper doesn’t mean it’s the perfect fit, so I really want to make sure the next team I go to, whether it’s a one- or two-year deal, that it’s a really good fit and we have a understanding with each other as well,” Jamison told The Sporting News. “That’s why you really have to take your time and key into what’s best not just for me but for my family as well.”
Los Angeles, of course, didn’t turn into the juggernaut many people expected it to be. Injuries and off-the-court distractions -- Jamison called it “nonsense” -- made it difficult for the Lakers to land in the postseason. Jamison did his part, averaging 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as he shot 36 percent from three-point range.
Jamison wasn’t exactly happy with the little playing time he got under Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni, but he said that the focus moving forward is simply about enjoying whatever is left of his career. He believes he could add a punch off the bench for a playoff-bound team in 2013-14.
All of the interested teams are serious threats to go deep in the playoffs save the Bobcats. For Jamison, who played for the veteran’s minimum in Los Angeles last year, it’s now about putting forth the due diligence in choosing a prime landing spot.
