The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed upon to a two-year, $9 million contract with forward Earl Clark, The Sporting News' Sean Deveney reports. The second year of the deal is a team option, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.

The breakout forward who played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season will join a young Cleveland core.

A season with the injury-plagued Los Angeles Lakers allowed Clark to post his best campaign yet. He averaged 7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and started 36 games. Clark especially impressed with extended playing time in January and February, owning double-figures scoring averages as he played around 30 minutes per game.

Signing in Cleveland gives the 25-year-old the room to grow with a young roster in his fifth NBA season. However, it'll be a wonder how coach Mike Brown divvies out the playing time. With their first overall draft pick, the Cavaliers selected a similar power forward in Anthony Bennett, who like Clark can shoot it from midrange and slide to the small forward slot. The Cavs also have Tristan Thompson, Tyler Zeller and Anderson Varejao in the frontcourt, making it plausible the team views Clark more as 3.
If that’s the case, Clark will need to improve his range. A 44 percent shooter on the year, Clark only hit 34 percent of his three-pointers last season.
