After more than five seasons away, Devin Harris is headed back to Dallas. The point guard and the Mavericks are close to a three-year deal worth more than $9 million, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Mavericks bolstered their point guard depth on Saturday, agreeing to a deal with Devin Harris.

The Mavericks acquired Harris in a draft-day trade in 2004, and he spent his first three-and-a-half seasons with Dallas before being part of the trade package Dallas sent to New Jersey for Jason Kidd. After a few seasons with the Nets, Harris has bounced around the league, recently playing for the Utah Jazz before spending last season with the Atlanta Hawks.
Harris will likely play a backup role with the Mavericks, who agreed to a four-year deal with point guard Jose Calderon on Friday. Harris and Calderon will give the team a different look in the backcourt, as Dallas replaces Darren Collison and O.J. Mayo as its starting guards.
A nine-year NBA veteran, Harris has career averages of 12.8 points and 4.9 assists per game. While his numbers have dropped in recent seasons, he remains a viable backup. Harris averaged 14.6 points and 5.0 assists per 36 minutes last season.
