Orlando Summer League roundup: Jeremy Lamb saves the Thunder, Solomon Hill leads Pacers

The early Monday games in the NBA Orlando Summer League were about the glimpses of potential and fighting to change perception. For the Oklahoma City Thunder, an almost disappointing game by second-year pro Jeremy Lamb ended with the swingman hitting the biggest shot of the game to pull off a rally. And for the Indiana Pacers, questionable first-round draft pick Solomon Hill rebounded from an underwhelming debut to lead his team to a blowout.

If Oklahoma City needs to feel desperate with free agent Kevin Martin heading to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the first 36 minutes of a summer league bout with the Orlando Magic could've been reason for concern. 2012 first-round draft pick Jeremy Lamb was cold -- 3-for-14 cold.

But the Thunder rallied from nine points down in the last three minutes of the game to beat the Orlando Magic, 79-78, thanks to a Lamb jumper over Moe Harkless as Lamb finished with six points in the final four minutes of the game. It wasn't pretty but it was a sign the talent is there to make Oklahoma City hopeful about its future support system behind Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

Lamb got help from 2013 second-round pick Grant Jerrett, who again showed deadly accuracy as a stretch big man. Jerrett led the Thunder with 14 points and hit 4-of-8 threes, though he did struggle defensively with eight fouls and looked gassed while leading the team with 32 minutes played.

It was Orlando center Andrew Nicholson who beat up Jerrett in the post. He scored a game-high 19. Second overall pick Victor Oladipo ran the point well once again for the Magic and recorded five assists, but he struggled by going 2-for-12 from the field. His aggression, however, never wavered as he scored eight of his 12 points at the foul stripe.

In general, Orlando's young core had another solid day. Doron Lamb, an asset thrown into last season's J.J. Redick trade, scored 16 points and Harkless by far had the Magic's best plus-minus at plus-14.

But Hill came back with a more aggressive attitude Monday, hitting 6-of-8 shots from the field and adding seven rebounds in a 92-72 Pacers victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. It was Hill's hustle that represented Indiana's scrappy attitude that led to them winning the rebounding battle, 37-27.

Miles Plumlee added 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Donald Sloan and Orlando Johnson combined for another 24 points.

The 2013 draft's 11th pick, Michael Carter-Williams, scored 13 points and had seven assists without a turnover for the 76ers. He struggled to score, going 4-of-19 from the field after pouring in 26 points in Sunday's first summer league game.
