Facing a crowded frontcourt situation in Atlanta with Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Elton Brand, Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon ahead of him on the depth chart, Hawks second-round pick Mike Muscala announced via Twitter that he has signed with Blusens Monbus Obradoiro to play in Spain next season. Atlanta still holds the rights to the No. 44 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, so this is an opportunity for the 6'11 big man to get on the court and develop his game for a future run in the association.
Hawks draft pick Mike Muscala to play overseas next season
Atlanta Hawks second-round pick Mike Muscala has signed a deal to play in Spain next season.

Muscala spent four years at Bucknell and improved elements of his game every season. His NCAA career culminated in an impressive senior season, as he averaged 18.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 2.3 assists in 31.7 minutes per game for the Bison. His offensive game is developed and varied, but there are concerns about how his numbers will translate to the NBA when facing better athletes.
Mike Prada of SB Nation ranked the top-60 rookies from 2013 NBA Summer League action, and Muscala came in at No. 35 due to poor defensive performances:
“35. Mike Muscala, No. 44, Hawks: He hit a number of nice shots off the pick-and-pop as the third option in the Schroeder/Nogueira pick-and-roll, which was good. Played pretty poor defense and wasn’t great on the glass outside of one game, which was bad.”
Muscala appeared in five games for the Hawks at the Las Vegas Summer League, and he averaged 5.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
