Craig Ehlo arrested on domestic violence charge

Former NBA guard Craig Ehlo was arrested on a charge of reckless burning.

USA TODAY Sports

Former Washington State guard Craig Ehlo was arrested by Spokane County sheriff’s deputies on Thursday on a domestic violence charge of reckless burning, according to The Spokesman-Review. He was booked into the county jail at 7:36 a.m. local time.

The first-degree charge is a Class C felony in the state. According to the state’s law, “a person is guilty of reckless burning in the first degree if he or she recklessly damages a building or other structure or any vehicle, railway car, aircraft, or watercraft or any hay, grain, crop, or timber whether cut or standing, by knowingly causing a fire or explosion.”

Ehlo played in the NBA from 1983-1997 and averaged 8.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He played for the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and Seattle SuperSonics but might be most well known for being a victim of Michael Jordan.

Ehlo was most recently an Eastern Washington University’s basketball assistant coach but resigned on July 11. Then, he told a local news station that he was interested in returning to broadcasting -- he worked Sonics games after his playing days -- or finding another coaching opportunity.
