It won't be long before former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady makes a decision between returning to the NBA as a role player and finishing his career in China. On Saturday, he posted a message to his 2.9 million Chinese fans on the social media site Weibo.com that he'll make an official announcement on his website -- and soon.

The aging star could choose between a bench role in the NBA or a high-profile run in a market that knows him well.

McGrady found himself playing in China last season and averaged 25 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game for his Chinese Basketball Association team, Qingdao DoubleStar. After the season, the San Antonio Spurs picked up the seven-time All-Star to replace Stephen Jackson and used McGrady only in garbage minutes.

McGrady appeared briefly in six postseason games and went scoreless for the Western Conference champions. Right after San Antonio fell to the Miami Heat, McGrady wasted no time jetting back to China with the NBA Legends Tour.
At 34 years old and having spent more than 15 seasons in the NBA, McGrady showed signs of wear in his last full season in the United States. He played 52 games with the Atlanta Hawks in 2011-12 and averaged just 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
That said, a return to the NBA seems unlikely considering McGrady can not only play more in China but also build up his personal brand that was sparked overseas by McGrady's glory days in Houston with Yao Ming.
