Larry Sanders officially signs extension with Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks’ big man inked his lucrative extension on Tuesday.

Larry Sanders has officially signed his extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, previously reported to be a four-year, $44 million deal. Sanders posted a photo of himself signing the contract on Instagram and wrote "words can not explain" the gratitude he has for the organization. Bucks general manager John Hammond also confirmed Sanders has signed the extension in an official press release:

“By combining his God-given ability with hard work and determination, Larry has developed into one of the top young defensive players in the league. He is a very important part of what we are doing in Milwaukee, and we’re excited to announce his contract extension.”

The sides had until Oct. 31 to work out the extension, but were able to end negotiations well before training camp, which begins in early October. The Bucks will not have to worry about Sanders demanding more on an open market as a restricted free agent next summer.

Sanders averaged 9.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He finished seventh in Defensive Player of the Year voting and is considered one of the league’s best interior defenders.

Milwaukee drafted Sanders with the 15th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. His rookie contract, worth $3 million in it's final year, expires at the end of the 2013-2014 season.
