The NBA announced that Portland Trail Blazers guard Terrel Harris will be suspended five games for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The suspension will begin in the first game Harris is eligible and physically able to play.

That doesn't help the 25-year-old's ability to stick in the NBA. Entering his third season, the former Miami Heat and New Orleans Hornets guard has shown signs of being a bench player in the league but with a non-guaranteed contract that can be wiped from the Blazers roster before Nov. 1, the suspension could be a deciding factor in his future.

Harris was a throw-in by New Orleans in an offseason trade that also sent center Robin Lopez to Portland. He played for the Blazers' summer league squad and most significantly ended the tournament with a 25-point outing.
Harris played in just 20 games for the Heat and Hornets last season and averaged 0.8 points and 0.5 assists per game.
