NBA 2013 schedule: Nets Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce visit Celtics on Jan. 26

The Boston Celtics will host former players Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce on Jan. 26 but will visit Brooklyn on Dec. 10.

The formal return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Boston will take place on Jan. 26, the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett reports, but by that time the new members of the Brooklyn Nets should be mighty familiar with the new-look Celtics.

Boston and first-year coach Brad Stevens will visit the Nets on Dec. 10, and that discounts two preseason meetings between the two squads. Pierce, Garnett and Jason Terry -- the three former Celtics dealt to Brooklyn this offseason -- will return to the T.D. Garden for a preseason game on Oct. 23 and before that will play the Celtics in the Barclays Center on Oct. 15. The preseason schedule was created before the offseason.

Another date for the Celtics to tack on the calendar is Dec. 11. Boston will return from New York as part of a back-to-back and play the Los Angeles Clippers, who are led by former Celtics coach Doc Rivers.

The Celtics released Rivers from his contract this offseason and allowed him to sign with Los Angeles.

Boston general manager Danny Ainge also shipped Pierce, Garnett and Terry to the Nets in exchange for Gerald Wallace, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries and Keith Bogans.
