It’s an interesting time of year in the NBA as training camp invites are extended to players most fans have never seen play and front offices are finalized, resulting in a frenzy of news most people aren’t able to keep up with on a day-to-day basis. We’ll try to catch everyone up on the important moves though with the following briefs.
NBA News: Celtics waive Donte Greene, Jared Jeffries to Nuggets front office
Donte Greene will be waived, Marcus Landry was signed and Jared Jeffries retired to join the front office of the Denver Nuggets.

The Boston Celtics traded Fab Melo to the Memphis Grizzlies for Donte Greene in one of the weirder moves of the offseason. Melo was cut shortly thereafter and now it appears the same will happen to Greene, according to HoopsHype.
Greene's contract wasn't guaranteed so it isn't exactly a surprise that HoopsHype reports he'll go to China, where a solid pay day likely awaits. The 25-year-old Greene didn't play in the NBA last year after being cut by the Brooklyn Nets in training camp.
The Denver Nuggets have assembled a very solid front office since beginning the difficult task of replacing Masai Ujiri. After grabbing Tim Connelly to be the team's general manager, recruiting MMA enthusiast Arturas Karnisovas to be his assistant and adding Ben Tenzer as the team's director of basketball operations, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Jared Jeffries will join the team in a scouting role.
The 31-year-old Jeffries played 38 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last year, but a close relationship with Connelly during their days together with the Washington Wizards apparently allowed Jeffries to make a quick transition to the next stage of his basketball career.
Ricky Davis hasn't played in the NBA since 2010 and the soon-to-be 34-year-old hasn't even played professional basketball since last March in Puerto Rico after flaming out in the NBA Development League. However, that hasn't stopped the New York Knicks from working him out this week for a potential training camp invite, according to Jared Zwerling.
Davis averaged 13.5 points in 736 NBA games from 1998 to 2010, averaging a career-high 20.6 points for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2002-03 season.
Marcus Landry led the Los Angeles Lakers' Summer League squad with 15.2 points per game after a solid season with the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League. That production led the Lakers to ink the 6'7 forward to a training camp invite according to a news release on the team's website.
Landry, the younger brother of Sacramento Kings big Carl Landry, played 18 NBA games in 2009-10 split between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. He averaged 16.5 points and five rebounds with Reno last season, shooting 42.8 percent from behind the three-point line.
It's always fun to see the daily reports of NBA players saying they added X amount of muscle as they report for training camp. NBA.com's Lang Whitaker has done yeoman's work in this area of study, putting together his first update for "MUSCLEWATCH 2013" featuring Kevin Love losing weight in his face and Tyler Zeller eating Krispy Kremes as the first step to his adding muscle.
