Free agent forward Josh Childress will participate in training camp with the Washington Wizards, according to HoopsHype. The 29-year-old last played with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2012-13 season.

The Wizards could be adding the former Hawk for depth.

A fixture with the Atlanta Hawks after being taken sixth overall in the 2004 NBA Draft, Childress made the surprising and unexpected decision to bolt the league for Europe during the summer of 2008. Signing a three-year, $20 million deal with Olympiacos in Greece, he ended up making well above what he would've by staying in Atlanta.
However, the actual on-court production of Childress tailed off in recent years. He led the Greek league in scoring during his second year there, but he’s been unable to find a major role since returning the NBA. Over the past three seasons, a core part of his prime, he’s played just 102 games.
In Washington, Childress would presumably get spare minutes at the end of the bench behind Martell Webster, Trevor Ariza, Otto Porter and Glen Rice Jr.
