The 2013 FIBA Americas tournament took Wednesday off in order to allow teams a break in between the first and second rounds of the round-robin portion of the event. Four more games are on the docket for Thursday, but they won’t feature Brazil or Paraguay since each was eliminated following the first round-robin tournament.
FIBA Americas schedule 2013: 8 teams begin new round-robin tournament
The FIBA Americas tournament continues Thursday with a new round-robin tournament following the elimination of Paraguay and Brazil.

The remaining eight teams have been split into two groups once again, with games scheduled for the next four days before the bottom two teams in each group are eliminated to set up a four-team knockout tournament. The final four will all advance to next year’s FIBA World Cup, too, making this week’s round-robin tournament almost more important than the final four tournament.
Aside from the nightcap featuring Venezuela and Uruguay -- two teams likely to be eliminated in this stage -- Thursday’s games feature a lot of solid matchups.
The morning's game between Jamaica and the Dominican Republic should feature an entertaining battle of Jack Michael Martinez vs. Samardo Samuels, Canada's Cory Joseph could have his hands full with Jorge Gutierrez of Mexico and Argentina vs. Puerto Rico represents a battle of the top two teams left in the tournament.
