The Jamaican national team picked up another big win at the FIBA Americas tournament, beating Argentina on Friday, 81-75. Weyinmi Rose scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to help Jamaica overcome a double-digit deficit and finish off the upset.

Argentina wilted down the stretch and was outscored by 11 points in the 10-minute fourth quarter, which saw Rose and Jamaica pour in 31 points.
At halftime, Argentina held a 31-28 advantage and came out smoking hot in the second half to build a 42-30 lead just a few minutes into the third quarter. Jamaica slowly brought itself back to trail 55-50 heading into the fourth quarter, and that's when Rose took over. The guard scored 20 points in the fourth quarter, leaving Luis Scola and company stunned.
Scola scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the Argentinians pumped up 30 three-point shots and only hit nine. Meanwhile, Jamaica hit 45 percent of its attempts and attacked the pain. It took 56 two-point shots to 31 by Argentina. Though Argentina did get to the foul line more, it went 18-of-27 from the charity stripe.
Mexico 87, Uruguay 73 - Atlanta Hawks center Gustavo Ayon scored 17 points and forward Hector Hernandez contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds for Mexico in a blowout 87-73 win against Uruguay. Mexico got help off the bench as guard Paul Stoll added 16 points and six assists in just 25 minutes.
The scoreboard read 47-27 at halftime and Mexico built a lead as big as 26 before Uruguay made a push in garbage time for a more respectable looking final score.
Uruguayan center Esteban Batista, who played for the Atlanta Hawks from 2005-07, scored 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed 19 rebounds, but that was about the only thing that went right for his team.
Venezuela 64, Canada 59 - Canada attempted a late rally and was down by three points with a little over two minutes left in the game, but Venezuela played tough and kept its cool to win.
Neither team shot well in this contest, but in a game with 47 three-pointers attempted by the teams, Venezuela’s 10-of-22 shooting from beyond the arc helped turn the tide in its favor. David Cubillan scored all 12 of his points via the three-pointer but finished one point behind Nestor Colmenares’ team-high 13.
Canada managed to sink 34 percent of its shots, but heaving 25 three-points and seeing only four go in didn't help things. Cory Joseph, though he missed on all five of his shots beyond the arc, led Canada with 14 points. Tristan Thompson added 12 points and was a beast around the boards, grabbing 20 rebounds.
Thompson’s rebounding effort helped give Canada the 51-30 edge in that category, but the poor shooting, especially from three-point land, and the 16 turnovers were too much to overcome.
Dominican Republic 99, Puerto Rico 84 - The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico each had four players reach double-digit points, but the Dominican Republic was able to shot 52 percent from the field. Puerto Rico managed just 43 percent shooting.
Jack Martinez led the Dominican Republic with 21 points and 11 rebounds, making 7-of-11 shots from the field and 7-of-8 at the line. The Rockets' Francisco Garcia added 18, and Eulis Baez and James Feldeine each chipped in 17 points.
Carlos Arroyo did his best to keep Puerto Rico in the game, finishing with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. But his supporting help wasn't as great as Martinez'. John Holland finished with 16 points and J.J. Barea and Renaldo Balkman each put in 12 points.
