Rajon Rondo on minutes restriction for at least 1 week

Rajon Rondo is back in action but the Celtics will keep his minutes restricted as he gets back into game shape.

Jared Wickerham

The Boston Celtics will continue limiting Rajon Rondo's minutes for "at least" another week, reports A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet New England. The Celtics discussed a five-minutes-per-quarter restriction when the point guard made his season debut after tearing his ACL last January and are expected to continue monitoring him closely as he improves his conditioning.

Sunday Shootaround

Rondo finished his first game since the devastating injury with eight points, four assists and two steals in 19 minutes on the floor. Boston has struggled without their floor general, going 14-26 prior to his return to the team.

The team has been patient with Rondo’s recovery from the ACL tear, not rushing him back to the floor for a season expected to help the franchise rebuild toward the future. Boston is currently 3.5 games out of the playoffs and could potentially make a run at a low seed in the Eastern Conference, but Rondo’s health and progress will likely dictate how their season concludes.
