Terrence Ross ties Toronto Raptors franchise record with 51-point outburst against Clippers

Terrence Ross tied Vince Carter’s franchise scoring record in a huge scoring outburst.

Terrence Ross scored a career-high 51 points Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers, tying Vince Carter's Toronto Raptors franchise record set in 2000. Ross had a chance to break the record at the free-throw line with four seconds left but went one-of-two, missing his chance to stand alone in Raptors history.

He finished the night with 51 points on 16-of-29 shooting overall, 10-of-17 shooting from deep, nine rebounds and one assist. Here’s the shot chart of his historic outing:

Ross joins a trend of incredible scoring outbursts, beginning with Kevin Durant scoring 54 points on Jan. 17, setting the high-point of the season for the NBA. Carmelo Anthony shattered Durant's season-high Friday night, dropping a career-high 62 points on the Charlotte Bobcats in Madison Square Garden while setting the New York Knicks' franchise scoring record.

Now, Ross has the NBA’s third-highest scoring game of the season with his monstrous 51-point game, scoring 5.6 percent of his total career points in a single game.
