— Rob Fischer (@thefishnation) February 1, 2014 The injury came when Conley was defending J.J. Barea. Barea made a move toward a reverse layup and Conley landed awkwardly on his leg. He had recorded 12 points on 14 shots and dished out eight assists before the injury.
Conley is having his best season as a professional. Through 42 games, he’s averaging a career-high 18.2 points, 6.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds on a career-best 46.2 percent shooting. His PER (21.2) is also the highest of his career.
Barely missing out on the All-Star game, Conley played a pivotal role in keeping the Grizzlies afloat while Marc Gasol, last season’s Defensive Player of the Year, was sidelined with a knee injury.
Despite his injury, the Grizzlies went on to beat the Timberwolves, 94-90, behind eight Zach Randolph points in the game's final four minutes.
