Clippers, Knicks said to be considering potential Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony deal

Chris Paul’s recent injury and Anthony’s non-committal attitude toward an extension has led both teams to discuss the possibility of a trade.

With Chris Paul's recent injury and the Knicks struggling to break .400, both teams are reportedly considering making drastic changes to their rosters. The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks have separately discussed the idea of trading Blake Griffin for Carmelo Anthony, per a report from ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Neither team has contacted each other about the swap, as discussions have been internal up to this point. The Clippers’ last meeting reportedly ended with the team leaning toward Griffin.

Los Angeles had some doubt thrown their way Friday night, as Chris Paul suffered a separated shoulder in a win against the Mavericks, 119-112. The Clippers recently signed Paul for $107 million for the next five years. He is expected to miss three to five weeks.

Meanwhile, the Knicks would like to sign Melo to a long-term deal, but he has so far been non-committal about a contract extension. That has forced James Dolan and Steve Mills to look elsewhere for trade value, lest Anthony bolt in free agency.
