Jazz, Cavaliers involved in talks for Andrew Bynum, Richard Jefferson swap

Cleveland is looking to move the oft-injured big man before his contract becomes fully guaranteed on Jan. 7.

The list of possible trade destinations for Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum keeps on growing. The Cavs and the Utah Jazz are in talks about a possible swap for veteran Richard Jefferson, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein.

Bynum’s partially guaranteed contract of $6 million will become a fully-guaranteed $12.3 million on Jan. 7. Trade suitors will be interested in nabbing the former All-Star before then in order to be able to waive him and clear significant cap space.

Meanwhile, Jefferson has said that he wants to play for a contender and that he is a “gun for hire.”

The former Nets star has had a miniature revival of sorts starting for the Jazz, who have the NBA's second-worst record at 11-25. Jefferson is averaging 10 points per game and shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc.

Cleveland is looking to make a deal before Tuesday at 5 p.m. when Bynum’s contract vests. If the Cavs decide to keep him, he could become a valuable trade chip for the coming summer as his 2014-2015 salary is entirely non-guaranteed.
