Orlando Magic forward Channing Frye suffered a sprained left MCL in practice Thursday, the team announced Friday.
Channing Frye injury: Magic forward sprains MCL in practice
There’s no structural damage to Frye’s knee, but there’s currently no timetable for a return.

Frye has already undergone an MRI, which revealed no significant damage:
#Magic PF Channing Frye had a MRI on knee and no structural damage shown. No timetable on return but team encouraged by no ligament tears.
— John Denton (@JohnDenton555) October 3, 2014 Denton also reports that the injury occurred when a teammate fell into Frye’s leg during a drill. The Magic hope Frye will be back by the start of the regular season.
The Magic acquired Frye this offseason, signing him to a four-year, $32 million deal after a strong comeback season with the Phoenix Suns. The 31-year-old missed the entire 2012-13 season due to a heart condition, but he played all 82 games last year.
Frye averaged 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Suns last season. He shot 37.0 percent from long range and is a career 38.5 percent shooter from three.
With Frye on the shelf, Kyle O’Quinn will get a big opportunity to impress in training camp and preseason. The 24-year-old didn’t play much at the start of last season, but he came on strong at the end of the year.
