The Dallas Mavericks are showing an "increasing interest" in trading for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. The Houston Rockets have also discussed a potential trade for Boston's 28-year-old star. Rondo has been at the center of trade speculation for the last two seasons and becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015.

The Celtics were reported to have “renewed willingness” to deal Rondo on Wednesday afternoon. It’s a rumor that’s been hanging over the franchise for a long time at this point. Wojnarowski reported Boston is primarily talking to Western Conference teams, and Dallas and Houston would certainly make sense from a fit perspective.
Dallas has been using Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson and J.J. Barea at point guard this season. With the Western Conference looking as loaded as ever, the Mavericks might think Rondo is enough to push them over the top. Dallas currently sits at 19-8 overall but is only the No. 6 in the West at the moment. Big man Brandan Wright is one name that has been discussed in a potential deal.
Houston is 18-5 and third in the West despite Dwight Howard's recent injury trouble. Patrick Beverley and backup Isaiah Canaan have played well, but neither is established as Rondo. Beverley has been scorching from three-point range lately, making over 46 percent of 6.4 attempts from deep per game. Rondo isn't that type of shooter.
Rondo is averaging over eight points and 10 assists per game for the Celtics this season while leading the league in triple-doubles with three. He turns 29 later this season.
