NBA All-Star Game 2014 MVP: Kyrie Irving earns honors thanks to big 2nd half
Irving had 15 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as the East beat the West in New Orleans.
Kyrie Irving was named the 2014 All-Star Game MVP after scoring 31 points and dishing out 14 assists in a 163-155 Eastern Conference comeback victory over the Western Conference in New Orleans.
Irving was instrumental in erasing an 18-point second-half deficit, scoring 24 of his 31 points in the second half and 15 of them in the fourth quarter. Irving went 7-of-9 in the fourth quarter and also added four assists in the final frame.
On the night, Irving shot 14-of-17 overall and 3-of-6 from deep. The Cavaliers star showed off his nifty ball-handling skills on numerous occasions, including some impressive moves to shake Dwight Howard on the perimeter. Irving also did this to free himself from Kevin Love on a nasty step-back jumper (via @cjzero):
By nabbing the award, Irving became the second-youngest player ever to win an All-Star Game MVP. It has been a rather rocky ride for the youngster in Cleveland this season, but things have been starting to turn around and Irving will look to carry this momentum into the second half of the year.
