The Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a trade that would send Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince to Minnesota, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports. Minnesota would need to match $11.6 million in combined salary to facilitate the trade.

The Timberwolves would send J.J. Barea and Chase Budinger in return and have a firm stance that Allen must be a part of the package with Prince. Memphis has been unwilling to move Allen in the deal which has stalled talks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. Multiple sources tied to the Grizzlies have also stated that a deal is unlikely to happen because the team will not part ways with Allen.

Prince’s contract expires after the 2014-2015 seasons. The veteran forward is in line to make $7.7 million in the final year of his contract. He’s having a down season, averaging the lowest minutes (26.7 per game) and points (6.2) per game since his rookie season. Prince’s shooting percentages are at career-lows as well, shooting just 39 percent from the field overall and 30 percent from beyond the arc.

Allen is in the first year of a four-year, $20 million contract he signed with the Grizzlies last summer. He’s been out since January after fracturing his hand and suffering ligament damage, but was averaging 10.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, two steals and two assists per game prior to the injury.
