The Cavaliers are allegedly a total disaster behind the scenes

Luol Deng is apparently flummoxed at how unprofessional the Cavaliers have been.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News was all over the Luol Deng trade earlier this season, beating Chicago reporters to the punch. So one assumes that when he now reports what a source close to Deng is saying, it has merit.

What Deng’s friend is saying:

[Deng has] seen players get thrown out of practice, take off their uniform tops at halftime and threaten not to play, mouth off to Brown and generally act like spoiled brats. [...]

There is no accountability, as Dion Waiters found out when he was kicked out of practice last week but still got his usual minutes against the Knicks.

Oh, it's more talk about Dion Waiters being a locker room problem! You may remember that there were rumors he and Kyrie Irving got into a fistfight early this season. This is a total mess, and frankly -- unlike some other chemistry problems in the league -- Waiters isn't good enough to be causing problems. If what Lawrence reports is true, Cavs GM Chris Grant may need to sell off Waiters by the deadline in a last-ditch effort to resurrect the team before he gets canned in April. (Mike Brown might very well need that, too.)

When Deng is telling people that the Cavaliers are dysfunctional, remember that he played for a team on which the GM choked the coach during a spat over a minutes limit.

UPDATE: Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal follows up with more, including a confirmation of some of Lawrence’s claims.
