The Orlando Magic and Glen Davis are parting ways, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Big Baby spent two-plus years with the team after being acquired from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Brandon Bass.
With the Feb. 20 trade deadline coming and going, Davis was quickly bought out by the Magic. His current deal stands at $13 million over this season and next. As one of Orlando’s starters this year, Davis averaged 12.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Clippers are a strong frontrunner for Glen Davis should buyout get completed, league sources tell Yahoo.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) February 21, 2014 There is sure to be interest in Davis from several contenders in need of yet another big man for their respective playoff runs. The Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers are all in need of another forward, to name a few.
Once the buyout is finalized, it is likely that many teams in contention -- while over the salary cap -- will attempt to sign Davis for the league minimum.
