Glen Davis will sign with Los Angeles Clippers for the remainder of the 2013-14 season, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. The signing cannot be made official until he clears waivers at 5 p.m. on Sunday, but Davis has committed to joining the Clippers, reuniting with head coach Doc Rivers after starting his career with the Celtics.

Davis negotiated a buyout with the Magic on Friday, ending his three-year stint in Orlando. The big man averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 45 games with the Magic this season, after averaging career-highs in both categories last season.

The LSU product was brought to Orlando for the 2011-12 season as a role player to please Dwight Howard, but he was thrust into a much larger role when the team traded Howard and began the rebuilding process. That increased role produced a mix bag of results.
He became a go-to option on offense for a team that lacked very few play makers. Davis' scoring volume went up, but his efficiency decreased drastically. In L.A., less will be asked of him as a primary scorer. He will serve mostly as a back up to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, allowing him to scale back his game and pick his spots.
The Clippers were in need of a third big man after trading Byron Mullens and Antawn Jamison and having only Ryan Hollins as their reserve center. Davis is a capable player on offense who will likely revert back to the defensive mindset he had with Doc Rivers previously in Boston.
The Brooklyn Nets were also in the running for Davis, but a reunion with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will not happen. The Nets shifted gears once Davis made his decision to join Los Angeles and will sign Jason Collins to a 10-day contract.
