LeBron James injury: Broken nose sidelines Heat star vs. Bulls

LeBron James is out in the second half of ABC’s NBA Sunday showcase.

LeBron James will not play against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon, head coach Erik Spoelstra announced prior to the game. James suffered a broken nose on Thursday during the Miami Heat's victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

James was considered a game-time decision after the team diagnosed him with a broken nose. The Heat are off until next Thursday, creating an opportunity for the team to give James an entire week off before potentially returning to the court. Spoelstra stated the week-long layoff helped the team reach the decision to rest James.

James was hit in the face by Serge Ibaka while driving to the rim. The blow broke his nose, but James went on to finish the drive with a slam dunk. Here's a GIF of the injury and dunk:

Miami begins a four-game stretch at home beginning with their game against the Bulls. They host the New York Knicks on Thursday, followed by the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Bobcats.
